Tuesday 12th February 2002

When setting the alarm we had forgotten about the hour change, so we woke at 7.50am instead of the intended 6.50. We managed to pay, Métro, get the Orlyval and check in with half an hour to spare before our flight at 9.25.

The flight to Bastia, though late, was very smooth, and we were met at the airport by Eric. We collected our hire Ka at noon and began the drive. The roads were in excellent condition and nearly empty, and the scenery spectacular.

We stopped in Île Rousse after an hour's drive. There we had lunch in the Restaurant D'Or overlooking the sea.

Calvi was just another 30 minutes down the road and we arrived at 3. The apartment was lovely, with views of the sea and the mountains from the balcony. We took the suitcases into the flat and then set off to explore in the sunshine. We walked down into Calvi and to the marina where we had a coffee/chocolate and watched the world go by.

We stocked up at the Super-U and came home just in time to be met by François-Xavier. We unpacked and had a lovely evening with dinner based on our shopping and the groceries François-Xavier had left here for us.
