Thursday 14th February 2002

We had a rather late start, we missed buying bread at the Super U by 5 minutes when they shut at 12.30.

We drove to Portu, starting at 12.30 and driving up little winding roads. These are extraordinary ledge-like roads following the contour of the mountain. We didn't see much traffic but we did see amazing views over the Golfe de Girolata (with the village of Girolata and its beach which can only be reached on foot or by boat) and the Golfe de Porto which is dominated by the many-peaked Capu d'Ortu. We also saw mountain cows and goats on the road.

We had lunch in Le Pub in Portu and drove home, arriving at 7pm.
