07.06.2014 Today we all had our photos taken together. We loved showing off for the camera. Mummy might put some pictures here if she's organised!
14.04.2014 Today I became a Hippo! I have moved into the over-2s room at nursery, which is upstairs. I love playing with the bigger children, and my favourite thing is that when Hippos and Crocs go out into the garden at the same time, I get to play with Matthew and his friends.
28.03.2014 At my swimming lesson with Marie this morning I swam 10m. I'm getting a badge to sew on my trunks and Daddy is very proud of me. I made it harder for myself by doing crawl arms and breaststroke legs.
13.12.2013
Today at teatime I said to Mummy:
I need to eat lots of food, and when I grow up I'm going to be full.
I also sang this song (which I was making up as I went along):
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Climbing up the Christmas tree
And if you ever saw him doing that
You would even say "Stop doing that"
22.11.2013 Today I started saying "Laura" for the first time. Daddy suddenly noticed in the car on the way home from nursery: Lau-RA, Lau-RA, Lau-RA!
14.11.2013 At breakfast today there was only one weetabix left. Mummy and Daddy were very impressed when I told them "I will only have half a weetabix so there's some for Laura".
17.08.2013 We were all in the car today and Laura and I had been given our water cups to have a drink. Laura decided to tip hers up and get wet, so I announced "Laura's watering herself".
06.07.2013 I can ride a bike! I got a new bike with pedals about 6 weeks ago and I've been taking the stabilisers on and off a lot. Yesterday I was able to go down one of the straight sides of the square before Daddy had to hold onto the back of the bike again, and today I rode all the way around without stopping. Now all I need is a push to start me off.
29.06.2013 Today I started to walk properly. I've taken a few steps before – 3 or 4 at most – but today in the garden I saw the walker and decided I wanted it, and walked a full 15 steps to get to it.
28.05.2013 I have cracked standing, if I'm distracted enough. This afternoon after Matthew came home from nursery, I suddenly decided to stand still in the lounge after Daddy let go of my hand. Everyone – Matthew, Mummy, Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa – started counting, and I stood the whole time while they counted to 30. Matthew can't count any further yet, so they stopped there, and I said squeak and sat down.
13.03.2013 Today was very exciting. Mummy was working at home so Mummy and Daddy were both there when I finally cracked crawling. Litsa from gymnastics said I just needed to really want something – it turns out little pieces of paper that no-one wanted me to eat were the thing. I'm now much happier to play by myself as I can get around (even though it's very, very slow).
09.05.2012 Today I have a new baby sister! Mummy and Daddy went out after Grandma and I had gone to bed last night and apparently she was born before we woke up. Daddy came home and took me to gymnastics and Acorns, just like a normal Wednesday; and when I came home in the evening there she was! She's called Laura and she'll be blogging in blue. We made a cake to celebrate her birthday, and I blew out the candle for her.
19.03.2012 Another lovely weekend. Yesterday it was mothers' day, and for that reason and because Mummy thinks travelling might be hard for a while when my sister comes along, we went all over and saw both my grandmas in one day! We drove up to Warrington on Friday night, straight from nursery. I slept all the way, and when we arrived I wasn't too happy to be woken until I realised where we were. I cheered up and said "I love Grandma", and went straight in for a play and some soup and toast, and a bath and bed in the new folding bed that Grandma's got for me now I'm a big boy and don't need a cot. On Saturday we went to Tatton Park. It was a bit rainy but we saw lots and lots of deer, and there were aeroplanes taking off as well (from Manchester Airport) which I liked. Then on Sunday morning we had breakfast in Warrington then drove to Ludlow. We got there in time for lunch and I tucked into roast chicken and roast potatoes with a vengeance. I also enjoyed some champagne ("Bizzy") and had a fair go at cheesecake for afters. We went for a walk by the river with Grandpa, and then came back for tea. I stayed up quite late (I was snuggling on the sofa with my duvet) but went to bed at the golf club B&B (which I haven't been to since I was tiny) very easily, even though I had to sleep in a cot. I slept all night and played very quietly when I woke up in the morning, whispering to Teddy because I could see Mummy and Daddy were sleeping. On Monday we put Mummy on a train, then I played football with Grandma and Grandpa before Daddy drove us home. I slept all the way again.
08.03.2012 Today at nursery we were tracing over our names. I named all the letters in my name (Mummy M, Alex A, Thomas T and so on) and Kirstie was so excited about it! She got a whole alphabet sheet from the Acorns room and went through it with me. I knew almost all of them (I get K and X mixed up, and Q is a bit dodgy). I can even sound out just the sounds now (B-I-G) but I haven't yet put them together to actually read a word.
19.02.2012 I have just had the most wonderful weekend. On Saturday morning it was Jamie's celebration for his birthday (he was 3) and we went to the playground at Shuttleworth. We had to stop for new wellies for me on the way because we forgot to bring the old ones home from nursery for the weekend – and I love my new wellies with trains on! We had lunch at Shuttleworth too (fish fingers and beans). Then in the afternoon Richard and Anton (from Daddy's work) came up to visit. They brought me a bus, which is fantastic. We all went for a walk in the woods and I fell in a huge muddy puddle, but we had lots of fun walking and kicking a football. We all had dinner together, and I enjoyed Daddy's spaghetti bolognese.
This morning after croissants for breakfast, Daddy took me to Creepy Crawlies in Royston, and I did some bouncing on the bouncy castle and had lots of play in the ball pool. Then we all went out for lunch in Great Offley (I liked my sausages but also enjoyed some of Daddy's pie and Mummy's parsnip mash) and then went for a walk. I walked some of it, and spent some of it in the backpack, and enjoyed almost all of it. In the evening, after tea, I didn't even watch any television, I just played until 6.30 and then asked for a special bath (which is one with bubbles). I had story and fell asleep on Daddy.
05.02.2012 A week ago today I got my new bed! I am no longer a baby who sleeps in a cot, but a little boy who sleeps in a (small, low) bed. On the first night Mummy went in at midnight and found me sleeping on the floor (and put me back in); and I woke up at about half past four. On the second night I fell out (I was very upset but not hurt) and I woke up in the middle of the night again. On the third night I woke up at 6 and then fell asleep on Daddy... but by the middle of the week I was sleeping normally, even if bedtimes are a bit erratic so far.
13.01.2012 I've just got home from a week at Grandma and Grandpa's. I really like seeing them. I also like it when Daddy builds a fire (I've stopped being scared now). And one day I got to play on the cannon in the middle of Ludlow for ages – and I haven't stopped talking about it since.
24.12.2012 We're staying with Grandma for Christmas, and today we all went to Marbury Park and had our photos taken in the morning by Lesley Wood. We were supposed to go yesterday but it was too wet. The sun was lovely and I ran around a lot being photogenic, climbing logs and playing football.
09.03.2011 This morning Mummy took me to Welwyn to see cousin David and Claire and baby Joshua again, and meet Uncle John and Auntie Mary. I had fun and I loved Claire's fish pie. I even let Auntie Mary have a little cuddle.
06.03.2011 Today Maja and Yiannis brought Konstantinos to visit me. He is 19 days older than I am but we were due about 2 days apart. Maja works with Daddy. Konstantinos could do my shape shorter straight off, which was very impressive, and he ate all his dinner, but he's not saying as much as I am. I charmed the pants off everyone by saying "Mummy" for the very first time!
27.02.2011 I've been up to Northumberland this weekend with Daddy (who took me on the train), his students Anton and Richard, and Mummy (who's taking me back home on the train). I can now say Anton and Richard. We went to the beach and I got to run up and down (shouting "Hiya!"), and we went to Dunstanburgh Castle and I got very cold, cried a bit and then slept for ages in the backpack once my hands got warm in their mittens. The place we're staying is amazing, there's loads of space and I even get to play on a toy tractor outside in the mornings. The only thing I don't like is the car seat Mummy and Daddy hired with the car.
12.02.2011 Today I went to my first wedding! Karen and Nigel got married in Stockton Heath and had the reception afterwards at the golf club just across the road from Grandma's house. I stayed a bit past bedtime and ate loads of Mummy's fishcake.
09.02.2011 Oh dear, my blogging's getting behind! Since my last entry, I have grown four molars, had the MMR jab, discovered quiche, discovered Annabel Karmel's apple and chicken balls, and learnt a whole lot of new words. The most impressive is "Tractor" (tac-tor) and the most reliable, "Key". I've been scared of my Christmas fire engine and come to love it; I've been scared of my Christmas book "I won't bite" and come to love that as well. I still haven't grown out of my first ever shoes though.
05.12.2010 We went to Wimpole Hall today and had a lovely walk in the frosty park. I was in Daddy's backpack, and very cosy in Toby's snowsuit (it's too thin for him, so we've lent him my (borrowed) one which is too short for me). There were lots of ducks (some of them on the ice) and I said "Quack" (well, "Ky-aaa") a lot. When we got home we had a video chat with Grandma and Grandpa – and I was far too interested in the laptop keyboard and the webcam.
29.11.2010 I loved nursery today, and when Daddy came to pick me up, said "Dad-dy" all the way home in the car. I had no naps at all, and was happy all the way from morning to bedtime.
26.11.2010 I'm off! I'm walking! It's a bit unsteady as you'd expect, but I am officially now a toddler. Mummy caught it on video a few days later:
15.11.2010 Not such a good first today – my first antibiotics (I have an ear infection). I'm not impressed.
10.11.2010 I took two steps today! I've suddenly decided I can stand for several seconds and make a dash to the furniture instead of crawling across every little gap. Mummy took a video of my very efficient fast crawling, quick before I stop doing it.
16.10.2010 Mummy put some music on this afternoon and I started dancing. It turns out I like the Pet Shop Boys:
12.10.2010 I was given a walker for my birthday, and today started toddling around with it – with some success! I can also stand without help (I did it for the first time yesterday), but only if thoroughly distracted so I forget I'm not holding on. There's a video of me with my walker, but it's pretty short so you need to pay attention:
04.10.2010 Another tooth! This one's taken a while – its opposite number is almost two months old. Now I have four at the top and two at the bottom.
27.09.2010 I'm one! I had a lovely day – both Mummy and Daddy stayed home with me, and in the afternoon we went to Little Rascals and I played in the soft area and on the slide for about an hour and a half. I was very tired when I got home.
26.09.2010 I'm starting to get the idea of baby signing. I'm now doing a funny little wave when I want a drink (or when I think about a drink – sometimes when I've just had one), and putting my hand to my mouth (which is the sign for food) sometimes when I want something (but not necessarily food yet!).
15.09.2010 Where's Matthew's nose? Where's Matthew's mouth? I can answer those now, by pointing. This follows weeks of intensive sessions of nose, mouth, and chinny chin chin with Daddy.
12.08.2010 Tooth number 5... just a month since the last one.
08.08.2010 I climbed a whole flight of stairs today! Mummy was right behind me, but she didn't help at all. When I got to the top I crawled onto the landing, turned round, sat down and laughed with triumph.
07.08.2010 I have finally started on finger food! All my friends have been doing it for ages so today I joined in. Today it was only a biscuit, but you just wait...
16.07.2010 Yesterday I surprised everyone by pulling myself up to standing on the coffee table. Mummy didn't catch it on camera until today though.
13.07.2010 ...and now I'm symmetrical again – I have my top left tooth.
09.07.2010 What a week of achievements: today when I got home from nursery I had learnt to clap.
08.07.2010 Crawling forwards at last! It's taken me a while to change direction but I'm there now: see!
06.07.2010 I've been poorly for a bit so haven't blogged, but today it's all better and I have a new tooth! This is number 3, and it's been a lot less stressful than the first two. It's a top front one, on the right.
04.06.2010 Yesterday Mummy thought I maybe waved bye-bye to Hannah when we left her house; this morning it was quite definite, I waved to Daddy as he left for work. My new skill!
30.05.2010 Today was my christening. Lots of family and friends came to join us in Warrington – we went to church and then had lunch in a fancy hotel, before going back to Grandma's house for cake. I adored being the centre of attention.
25.05.2010 I have just started to master crawling... backwards. It's all a bit frustrating!
05.05.2010 Two teeth today! The bottom ones at the front. Apparently there's an election on, but I'm too busy complaining about my teeth.
01.05.2010 This was the end of my first holiday. We've had two weeks in Cornwall, with lots of walks and lots of baby backpack (where I had good naps on Daddy's back). I even nearly slept through a couple of times – and I loved having a swimming pool right next door.
15.04.2010
Met my brand new (8 day old) next door neighbour Milo today. He weighed the same at birth as I did but he looks awfully small now I'm bigger!
I had a lovely time at Callum & Lucas's house with all the other NCT babies, and when I got home I ate some toast for the first time.
10.04.2010 Went for a walk in the sunshine at Harrold Odell Country Park. This was the first time I'd seen proper sun – Mummy and Daddy spent half the time worrying whether I was getting sunburnt! (I wasn't.) We saw some very impressive swans, and when we got back to the cafe I had some banana, and showed off my new eating skills:
28.03.2010 Yesterday I rolled over from my back to my front for the first time. Today Mummy caught it on camera!
01.03.2010 We're staying at Grandma's in Warrington. I love it: Grandma plays with me first thing in the morning, when Mummy and Daddy are too tired to.
I've been laughing for a while now, mostly at Daddy. And here's the proof:
